Emily and Gordon got married on the beach in Langkawi, on the west coast of Malaysia. The ceremony was in the afternoon, on the sand, with the Andaman Sea and the limestone islands behind them.
Langkawi gives you two very different weddings on the same stretch of beach, and this day used both. The afternoon is for the water and the karsts, which is why the ceremony sits where it does. Then the light drops fast. By eight the whole thing had moved down onto the sand under festoon lights strung between the palms, long tables, cake cut well after dark. Same beach, nothing like the same photos.
The rest filled in around those two anchors. Getting ready inside, out of the heat. Sage green stationery with a wax seal. The bridesmaids in olive silk with white paper parasols, waiting on the steps until it was cool enough to stand outside.
42 photos from the day below. If you’re planning a wedding in Langkawi, this is roughly how the day tends to run.
